Strategic Planning
A strong strategic plan is essential in accelerating and growing your impact. While all organizations benefit from having a strategic blueprint that outlines top priorities and objectives and the strategies to achieve them, organizations in different stages of development require different strategic plan approaches. Some may only need to slightly adjust their objectives and strategies, and do not need an entirely new and extensive planning process, while other organizations benefit tremendously from a thorough landscape analysis, a reevaluation of their mission and vision, and a substantially different set of objectives and strategies.
For this reason, no one approach to strategic planning fits all organizations. Mission Velocity tailors the strategic planning process to the specific needs and conditions of each client. In each situation, it is critical to create a process and an environment where organizations can address the hard questions in a candid and robust way.
Strategic planning is at its essence about how an organization will prioritize strategies and develop and allocate the resources needed to achieve its mission. To accomplish this, the planning process will typically include staff, board and other stakeholder input to address current organizational issues and assess the most relevant trends in the field. The process will typically include assessing the mission and vision, analyzing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and developing goals, strategies, timelines, and benchmarks by which to measure plan progress. In many cases a broader comparative analysis of competitors will also be helpful in developing a strong final product. The end result is a plan that conveys the organization’s strategic vision, is ambitious yet realistically aligned with the organization’s likely future capacity, and can be adjusted as new opportunities or challenges arise. Mission Velocity can also provide ongoing support on execution of the plan, along with periodic assessments of progress and possible plan adjustments.
