Board Development and Governance

Mission Velocity has helped several organizations to assess the strength of their boards in the context of achieving their missions, identify areas in need of shoring up, and create effective recruitment plans to fill board gaps. Equally important, we guide and support organizations in reviewing and adjusting their processes of recruitment (including vetting candidates and conveying clear expectations of board members), the onboarding of new members, and ongoing retention strategies. We also work with organizations to develop effective methods of self assessment, both with regard to individual board members’ performance and in evaluating the ongoing fit of an organization’s committees with its strategic priorities. Finally, we offer trainings to boards in areas such as their role in resource development and other areas of board responsibility.

Bill Corwin is able to bring the perspective of both a nonprofit staff leader and a board member to this work, and has assisted many nonprofits in improving their board composition and enhancing overall board engagement.
